Coy Johnston’s love for the land began as a young boy following a bird dog through the woods and fields. His conservation ethic will be carried on into the future with his work through land owners and conservation easements.
As a forester with Westvaco, Coy was instrumental in the start of Westvaco’s multiple use concept in land management. Knowledge of how to combine wildlife and timber management practices enabled Coy to be a major player in the organization of the ACE Basin Task Force, which began in 1989. During his work representing Ducks Unlimited in their Lowcountry Initiative, Coy was responsible for the protection of approximately 80,000 acres through acquisition, conservation easements and deed restrictions. He has been involved with lowcountry landscapes as a Forester, Wildlife Manager, Land Protection Specialist, and as a Realtor, in assisting conservation-minded buyers.
